JENNIFER BURROWS M.A. AND CERTIFICATION IN K-12 VOCAL AND INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC EDUCATION; K-6 GENERAL EDUCATION
TEACHER INFORMATION
Jennifer Burrows is a certified teacher with a bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Allegheny College and a Master’s degree in k-6 grade classroom education as well as K-12 grade music education. She is currently an independent instructor teaching at various locations. She has performed throughout the Bahamas and United States and has played for the CAAC ballet classes. She has also worked as a pre-K music instructor with the number one rated music enrichment program in the nation Music-N-Me. She has taught music education, choir and band in public school for 3 years and taught private piano lessons for over 10 years. She is currently playing for Ivy Memorial Baptist Church.
LESSONS WILL BE LOCATED AT
Location One: Ivy Memorial Baptist Church – a quiet environment where lessons are done in the main auditorium on a baby grand piano. $20 per ½ hour
Location Two: My home at 4000 Anderson Road near Percy Priest Lake – a home environment where lessons will be taught on a weighted keyboard. $20 per ½ hour
Location Three: Your home – this is often the most convenient for the family but can be the most difficult for your student. I believe it is best to have students play on a piano other then their own in an environment they aren’t as comfortable with. This encourages their ability to perform under the stresses they would encounter when performing for an audience. There will be an additional $10 fee for lessons done in your home. $30 per ½ hour.
TIME COMMITMENT:
Lessons last ½ hour for ages 4-10 at 11 students may audition for an hour lesson. Students are expected to practice ½ hour every day for at least 5 days out of the week
ENROLLING FOR LESSONS
A signed contract by both the student and the parents indicating intent to attend and commitment to participate will be required in every student’s situation. Sessions are to be paid once a month or every two weeks. There is no enrollment fee and no additional charges. Books can be purchased through Jennifer Burrows or at any local music store at the list price for the books.
MISSED LESSONS
Make up lessons will be offered the month of a missed lesson at no additional charge. Lessons made up after the month of the missed lesson will be at an additional cost of ½ of a standard lesson cost. Make up lessons will only be available as opportunities arise and can be scheduled. If the situation does not lend itself to such a case then the lesson will be missed due to student availability, there will be no credit and no refund for this lesson.
PAYMENT POLICY
Any past due amounts will result in a discontinuation of lessons until the account is brought back to current.
SCHEDULING YOUR LESSON
Lessons are available on a first come first serve manner, however if a time slot is not immediately available it is important to put in writing your interest so that you can be placed on a waiting list for that time slot. These times may or may not be available or even offered, but you will be contacted if any changes occur and offered that slot based on the time you selected.
CURRICULUM
Students will be asked to follow a step by step instruction plan using lesson books by either the John Thompson’s Piano Course or the John Schuam’s method.
